Easy Cast Iron Pizza

I’m the main cook in my household and tend to go through phases with food. Before kids, there was a frozen pizza phase. After kids, there was a take-out pizza phase. Once the kids grew a few years, we made homemade pizza. It is so fun to have your kids help roll out their very own little pizza. They can put all the toppings they want on it (which at my house consists of cheese, cheese and one pepperoni, just in case they might like it now).

I don’t know why I’ve never tried it before, but making homemade pizza in a cast iron skillet is simply amazing! It’s easy, and it makes the crust all crunchy, but the inside is still chewy. It literally creates the perfect crust consistency.

You really only need pizza dough, a batch of Mama Mia Marinara Sauce and toppings. I bought a tube of pizza dough, smooshed the square corners to be more rounded and just pressed it into my 12-inch cast iron skillet. Put as much sauce on as you like – save the rest for dipping or freeze for later! (FYI, it freezes great.) I tend to put a base layer of cheese on the sauce, then toppings and a little sprinkle of cheese on top to finish. I like when my pizza toppings get a little more done, hence the majority of the cheese being on the bottom.

There’s a big football game coming up, and I think this Easy Cast Iron Pizza would be a huge score! If you’re looking for an awesome veggie pizza for some pre-game snacking, I highly recommend Dill Veggie Pizza! It’s made with Dill Pickle Dip Mix and is so incredibly tasty! We love a good veggie pizza in our house – and it gets your family to eat lots of veggies. (Winning!)

Enjoy!
