Stuck on dinner ideas?

Do you ever get stuck on what to make for dinner? That is how I have been feeling lately. I’m a little tired of our same old regular rotation meals, but I don’t want so spend a lot on ingredients for a new meal I’m not sure my family is going to like. I seem to have lost my creative inspiration in the kitchen and decided it was time for some new ideas.

Tastefully Simple offers kit options each season that are full of tasty meal ideas. We brought a meal kit over to my mom’s house for us all to cook together. I asked my son to pick which recipe we should try and he selected the Bayou Pork Fried Rice.

It was so simple to make. My mom had some leftover pork loin in the fridge from dinner earlier in the week. I used that in the recipe, which made this meal even more budget-friendly. Since we were really hungry, we opted for quick-cook rice. This saved about 20 minutes in the prep time.

I thought the fried rice recipe was really delicious. Bayou Bourbon Glaze is one of my favorite Tastefully Simple sauces and is good on anything, so it made for a fun twist on fried rice. My mom and son were initially expecting something more salty and umami, like you would get in Asian take-out. This version had more of a smoky sweet flavor from the Bayou Bourbon Glaze that tasted better with every bite.

My mom commented how this recipe could be easily modified to use up any leftover rice, veggies and/or meat you have in the fridge. Throw those things together with some Bayou Bourbon Glaze and you have an easy dinner in about 15 minutes. This one is a keeper and sparked some joy back into making dinner. Give it a try!
