Oh, crème brûlée. You dreamy little taste of heaven.
Traditionally, crème brûlée is a rich custard made with eggs, cream, sugar and vanilla, all topped with caramelized sugar. (Fun fact: the literal translation is “burnt cream,” which doesn’t even begin to describe its deliciousness.)
It’s one of my all-time favorite desserts, so I couldn’t have been more excited when NEW Crème Brûlée Bar Mix made its debut this month. It’s filled with luxuriously silky-smooth vanilla custard, complete with a blissfully buttery crust.
Best of all? No pastry skills or culinary torch needed. Just add cream and butter, and pop it in your oven for a modern twist on the French classic. YOU GUYS … that’s it! It’s so creamy and divine.
Looking for more ways to mix it up? Here are five recipes that I was lucky enough to stir it up in my kitchen this month – plus a delicious fall twist that I can’t wait to try!
6 Ways to Stir Up Crème Brûlée Bar Mix
1. Lemony Crème Brûlée Bars. Confession: this one might be my favorite.
So light and refreshing, these lemon-kissed bars are filled with luscious custard and topped with whipped cream, lemon slices and fresh mint. Such a perfect summertime dessert!
2. Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée Bars. Buttery ribbons of caramel. Sprinkles of sea salt. Velvety spoonfuls of vanilla custard.
With the perfect combination of sweet and salty, these bite-sized beauties will be a hit with all ages. My kids loved them!
3. Chocolate Crème Brûlée Bars. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so … behold:
So rich and creamy, these dark and decadent bars are positively sinful. (By the way, the combination of the caramelized topping and chocolate filling reminds me of a Heath candy bar – complete with silky chocolate and a buttery toffee crunch!) Try ‘em with ice-cold milk or hot espresso.
4. Rhubarb Strawberry Crème Brûlée Bars. Fresh, fruity and fun, these pretty and petite bars have a surprise inside – a hidden layer of sweet and luscious jam on top of the crust.
Perfect for entertaining, these mini desserts are topped with a drizzle of warmed Rhubarb Strawberry Fruit Spread and whipped cream just before serving. (You can pipe on the whipped cream or keep it simple by adding a dollop or two.)
5. Crème Brûlée 5-Layer Bars. Only three ingredients!
Classic and comforting, these blissful layered bars are stacked with alternating tiers of sweet custard and caramelized crumbles. So simple and delicious!
6. Pumpkin Crème Brûlée Pie. And last but not least, who else is ready for pumpkin spice season? This is only version that I haven’t tried yet, and I cannot WAIT … it’s at the top of my recipe list this month.
With creamy swirls of custard and sweet pumpkin, it will be perfect for fall weekends and Thanksgiving entertaining.
